It is no easy task to find accomplished professionals that have total knowledge and understanding of the food service market, with a reputation for integrity, initiative and reliability. Here at R. LaBarca & Associates we have put together the perfect combination.


Established in 1995 the assemblage of top-notch individuals over the years has given us the ability to build a company that has foodservice and protein sales experience that equates to almost 100 years!

Richard Labarca – President    

Richard has over twenty years of experience in sales and marketing for the foodservice industry. His expertise comes from three different phases of the business: manufacturing, distributing and brokering. Richard first owned and ran a food processing company where he controlled all areas which included management, production, sales and distribution.

After Richard’s sale of his food processing and distributing business he entered the food brokerage business working at a large metropolitan food broker. He was given the task of managing and developing sales in the Queens, Brooklyn and the Long Island marketing areas. During the first three years he sold new foodservice, meat and seafood distributors increasing the customer base by 100%. The result was an increase in sales from $840,000 per year to $6,000,000 per year. Richard was eventually promoted to Executive VP and was responsible for direct interaction with specific manufacturers’ representatives. As Executive VP, Richard analyzed and reported sales projections to manufacturers, devised and implemented sales promotions and scheduled and coordinated manufacturers’ marketing campaigns with the inside and outside sales staff.

Jerry Feldbau (Office Manager - Commodity Sales Specialist)   

 

Jerry comes to our company with a wealth of knowledge and over 30 years of experience in the industry from running his own veal processing company and running a Long Island based Meat Distributor. Jerry has taken charge of all commodity sales including fresh poultry, bacon and veal. He will also take care of industrial sales. Jerry speaks to our customers on a daily and weekly basis for their poultry orders. Jerry has brought our company to the forefront of commodity chicken sales in the New York metro market and we are now recognized as one of the premiere fresh chicken brokers in the market.   As a company we are firm believers in customer service and Jerry plays a big role in this area. Jerry is our GO-TO guy, if you want something done or you need market information just leave it in his hands.

 

David Salomon (New Jersey Sales Executive)   

 

David is new to our company and comes to us with over 25 years of experience in food processing and wholesale foodservice distribution. His company produced approximately 4000 hot meals daily that were delivered to child day care centers and senior citizen centers in northern and central New Jersey, they also supplied frozen foods, groceries and produce to over 5000 schools, institutions and restaurants throughout the New York, New Jersey metropolitan market. He has a wealth of operator knowledge, with restaurants, institutions, mobile caterers and schools which can only further the distribution of our packer’s products.

 

Joseph Watson (Metro New York sales)   

 

We are happy to have Joe on our team.  Joe comes to us with vast knowledge of street selling, coming from three years of operator work for Stanislaus Food Products. His other experience consist of two years in sales for a major metro New York Italian food distributor.

 

Peter Margolin (Bakery Specialist/ Sales Associate)

 

From 1988 to 2005 Peter worked and brokered for Blue Ridge Farms. While at Blue Ridge he sold accounts such as Chase Manhattan, Hale and Hearty Soups, Charlie Browns, Aramark and Ben’s Kosher Deli. After leaving Blue Ridge Farms in 1992 he started his own brokerage company from scratch representing Blue Ridge Farms and Country Muffin, eventually growing their business to more than five million dollars locally. Peter’s eighteen years of experience selling a wide assortment of baked products, including but not limited to; Cookie dough, croissants and all natural muffin batter has given him the opportunity to call on numerous multi operators and management companies in New York City such as St. Management, Pax Deli, Pret A Manger and Compass Group.

 

Peter calls on all Bakery Distributors in Westchester, the boroughs of New York and New Jersey. He also calls on all Food Service distributors north of RT287 and the Tapanzee Bridge.
